About the course

In general terms, a degree is awarded to students who demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a particular area of training, the ability to apply and understand the knowledge acquired, the ability to solve problems, construct and justify their own arguments, the ability to process information and communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions.
The training also encourages further study towards a second cycle in Graphic Design or Audiovisual Production for the New Media.A formação fomenta igualmente o prosseguimento de estudos para um segundo ciclo em Design Gráfico ou Produção Audiovisual para os Novos Media.

The degree in Communication Design and Audiovisual Production was created in 1999 as a two-year degree in Image Arts (3 years BA + 2 years BA), with the branches Graphic Design and Multimedia and Audiovisual Design. In 2007, the cycle of studies was reorganized in accordance with the Bologna process, adopting the designation of Degree in Communication Design and Audiovisual Production.
The study cycle is structured in six semesters, three curricular years, the first of which is basic training, the second theoretical-practical and the third year eminently practical, in a clear attempt to ground, consolidate and apply knowledge and skills in communication design, more specifically in the areas of graphic design, multimedia and audiovisuals.

Goals

Development of creativity and imagination, combined with the ability to analyze and explore materials, processes and new technologies capable of providing appropriate and innovative responses to the problems posed by today's world.

The aim is to train staff in the specific areas of Graphic Design, Multimedia and Audiovisual Production, capable of working in graphic design studios, advertising agencies, publishers and corporate image creation offices.
