Performer of historical keyboard instruments, João Janeiro divides his professional activity between research, concerts, CD recordings and teaching. He studied harpsichord, organ, clavichord and historical musicology in Lisbon. He founded and directs Flores de Mvsica, Capella Joanina and Concerto Ibérico Orchestras. With his ensembles has directed several modern premieres of Portuguese composers from Baroque period. He has participated in various festivals in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, France and Switzerland. He has produced critical editions of various composers and has directed numerous CD recordings.
