On 14 July in Santiago de Compostela, André Silva, a second-year Master’s student in Music Education at ESART-IPCB, was selected for the only trumpet position at the Orchestral Academy of the Real Filharmonía de Galicia. This academy, one of the few of its kind on the Iberian Peninsula, offers young musicians the opportunity to work directly with the orchestra and its performers, including principal trumpet Javier Simó, in a range of projects throughout the upcoming season.
The programme also includes theoretical and practical classes focusing on instrumental performance, professional development, and the mind–body connection, representing a unique opportunity for sustained collaboration with a professional orchestra of high standing.
Just a few days later, on 31 July, André Silva was also selected to join the Portuguese Philharmonic Academic Orchestra. This appointment will allow him to participate not only in the academic orchestra’s programmes but also in projects with the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra.
These achievements are a source of pride for ESART’s trumpet class, under the guidance of Professors António Quítalo and José Almeida, and highlight both the quality of teaching and the dedication of its students.
