From 5 October to the end of December 2025, Antena 2 will broadcast The Legacy of João Domingos Bomtempo, a special series of the programme Caleidoscópio, authored by João Pedro Delgado. The initiative celebrates the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth, on 28 December 2025, and highlights his pivotal role in shaping Portugal’s musical identity.

In parallel, ESART – Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas – will host the exhibition O Legado de João Domingos Bomtempo, showcasing artistic interpretations inspired by his life and work.

João Domingos Bomtempo was a transformative force in Portuguese music. Through his creative energy and vision, he redefined the nation’s musical institutions, pioneering aesthetic innovation, reforming education systems, and opening a path towards the cultural modernity of Europe. His influence resonates to this day – a reminder of the enduring value of his work and the importance of preserving his artistic heritage.
