André Dias

Graduated in percussion at the ESMAE – Porto, André Dias is a member of the Pulsat PG and Drumming GP, artistic director of the International Percussion Competition – Gondomar and 1st extra player in the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto – Casa da Música.
As a soloist, he played with Munchner Symphoniker, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa and Orquestra Clássica de Espinho.
He was distinguished with several prizes, including Helena Sá e Costa Competition (2011), 1st prize in the Young Musicians Award - 27th edition (2013), which was followed by the special European Union of Music Youth Competitions award. In 2015 he was selected for the New Talent (Bratislava), organized by the European Broadcasting Union. In 2020 won the PLAY Prize for the best classical music CD of the year “Archipelago”, recorded with Drumming GP with music by Luís Tinoco.
As an educator is currently teaching at Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas de Castelo Branco (ESART), Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho (EPME) and Academia de Música de Costa Cabral – Porto.
