The workshop “From Concept to Project: The Synthesis Process in the Creation of Graphic Brands” was held, led by Cátia Rijo, communication designer and Vice-President of ESELx – Polytechnic of Lisbon.
The event, aimed mainly at Master’s students in Graphic Design, explored the creative process in building brands, from initial conception to graphic materialization. During the session, participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of visual synthesis methodologies and strategies for creating impactful graphic identities.
With a consolidated academic and professional career, Cátia Rijo shared her experience as a researcher and teacher. She has a degree in Visual Design and a master’s degree in Graphic Design from IADE – Faculty of Design, Technology and Communication, and a PhD in Design from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon. In addition to her work in academia, in 2016 she founded DESIGNLAB4U, a laboratory that promotes practical experience in design projects for students.
Throughout the workshop, innovative tools and methodologies were discussed, highlighting the concept of the Graphic-Semantic Expression Map, an approach developed by the specialist and published in several scientific works.
The event provided an enriching moment of learning and exchange of ideas, reinforcing the importance of synthesis in brand design and experimentation in the creative process.
