Over the last three months, the School of Applied Arts (ESART) at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) has promoted a series of seminars specifically aimed at students on the Master’s degree course in Graphic Design.
The cycle began on 6 November at the Agri-Food Technology Support Centre with a practical and interactive session on sensory analysis. This was followed by three thematic lectures given by guest experts at the ESART premises: on the 13th, ‘Castelo Branco industrial and commercial’ by Leonel Azevedo; ‘Design and regional competitiveness’ by Susana Lopes on 20 November; and ‘Design and identity’ by Francisco Marta on the 21st.
On 27 November, Caramulo and Viseu were the locations chosen for the study visit to the Museu das Marcas and Celeuma – Creative Agency. Back at ESART, on 9 December, Fernando Oliveira led the workshop ‘Creative orientation and brand language’.
In a meeting extended to students attending the Master’s Degree in Clothing and Textile Design, the initiative ended on 9 January with the session ‘Dissertation, Final Project or Internship: What they are, how they are organised, what distinguishes them’. Rita Assoreira Almendra, professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, focused on the characteristics of each type of conclusion to this cycle of studies, drawing attention to the elements that differentiate them in the context of design.
