The present report constitutes a summary of the development process of the final project, which is part of the Interior and Equipment Design course. This project was developed throughout the 2nd semester of the 3rd year of the Interior and Equipment Design course, offered at the School of Applied Arts.
This project involves the rehabilitation of an old building located approximately 8 km from the village of Oleiros. This building currently belongs to an English couple who have purchased several properties in Portugal and intend to renovate them for tourism purposes. My proposal consists of creating rural tourism on this property because the building is situated in the countryside and is also close to the N238 national road.
The main objective of this project is to rehabilitate the building and transform it into a rural tourism accommodation, specifically a country house. Secondly, I aim to raise awareness about older villages that need to attract a younger population to showcase their potential. Through this intervention, a way was found to connect rustic style with contemporary elements, combining the old and natural with functionality and comfort.
