This project, developed within the scope of a Degree in Communication and
Audiovisual Design, aims to develop a mobile application complementary to
psychotherapy, namely cognitive-behavioral therapy, in contexts of the treatment
of anxiety disorders, with special focus on obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a disease that often becomes debilitating and
is characterized by the appearance of recurrent and unwanted thoughts
(obsessions), causing anxiety that tries to be combated by the patient through
repetitive, irrational, and ritualistic behaviors (compulsions), which keep you
stuck in this cycle of anxiety.
Even though it is considered a chronic condition, psychotherapy has been
shown to be effective in relieving symptoms, to very low levels, allowing patients
to have happy and fulfilling lives. However, even if showing very positive results,
the therapeutic process can be intense, tiring and exhausting.
Therefore, it is intended to develop a mobile application that helps not only
patients but also psychologists and therapists, facilitating and streamlining this
process. The application will organize, condense, and simplify the various tools
most commonly used in this context. It is expected that, in addition to supporting
therapy, the application will also serve, in a way, as an informational and
educational platform, destigmatizing this condition that is still the target of
numerous myths and misconceptions, which are harmful to the diagnosis and
acceptance of the condition by part of those who suffer from it.
