“Existência e Resistência" (Existence and Resistance) explores connections between Brazilian indigenous peoples and the Ainu of Japan, highlighting their cultural expressions and craft practices. Weaving, present in homes, basketry and tapestries, guides the design, while natural materials such as linen, cotton and silk reflect their relationship with nature. Structured shapes evoke kimonos and traditional Japanese aesthetics, combined with manipulation and dyeing techniques such as Shibori and Arashi-Shibori. The collection symbolises the strength and resilience of these peoples, who continue to resist for the preservation of their threatened cultures, territories and ecosystems.
