Nelson Antunes holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Beira Interior (2016), a master's degree in Geographic Information Systems (2008), and a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Universidade Lusófona (1998). He began his career at Caires Atelier, Lda (1998-1999), developing civil engineering projects. From 2000 to 2003, he worked at Antunes & Barata, Lda, overseeing and managing construction projects. Between 2001 and 2007, he worked at the Portuguese Institute of Architectural Heritage, handling technical and coordination tasks. In 2004, he became a faculty member at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (ESART), where he was appointed Adjunct Professor in 2008. He teaches courses related to 2D and 3D technologies, systems, installations, management, and environmental comfort, and has coordinated undergraduate and graduate programs. His research focuses on architectural heritage rehabilitation, and he is a member of the GeoBioTec-UBI research center.
Additionally, Nelson holds a PhD in Design from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon, and a Post-Doctorate in Design at the same institution. He also holds an MPhil in Design, Materials, and Product Management (University of Aveiro) and a Bachelor's in Communication Design from the Polytechnic of Portalegre. He is a Design Researcher at CIAUD (Research Centre in Architecture, Urbanism, and Design) and Rethink – Design for the Territory Research Group. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Convergences – Journal of Research and Arts Education, Associate Editor of InfoDesign – Brazilian Journal of Information Design, and co-chief editor of Design Behaviors Journal (South Korea). Nelson has authored books and articles indexed in Scopus and WoS and chairs international scientific conferences on design and multidisciplinary topics. He is also a reviewer for several journals and congresses.Holds a PhD in Design (Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon) and a Post-Doctorate in Design at the same university; MPhil in Design, Materials and Product Management (University of Aveiro); and Graduation in Communication Design, specialization in Graphic Design and Advertising (Polytechnic of Portalegre); and a Technical Course in Design level III (Escola Secundária Nuno Álvares).
