João Tiago Correia was born in Coimbra, in 1977. In 1992 entered the Conservatório de Música de Coimbra where, under the guidance of Professor Graciano Pinto, concluded the Classical Guitar Complementary Course. Simultaneously, graduated in Basic Education Teachers, Music Education variant, at Escola Superior de Educação de Coimbra - Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra. In 2014, finished the Graduation in Classical Guitar, at Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas - Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco (ESART - IPCB), under the orientation of Professor Doctor Miguel Carvalhinho. In 2016, also at ESART – IPCB, concluded his Master’s degree in Classical Guitar and Chamber Music area of expertise, with the dissertation title “The Interpretation of the Work for Guitar of Lopes e Silva by a Student of the 5th Grade of Artistic Education”. Attended Classical Guitar Masterclasses with Paulo Vaz de Carvalho, José Pina, Robert Brightmore, Goran Krivokapic, Danijel Cerovic and Roberto Aussel. Was awarded with the 1st prize in I Golegã International Guitar Competition, on higher level category, and played both in solo recitals, namely at VIII International Guitar Meetings in Coimbra, and taking part in chamber music groups playing around Portugal. Directed the Guitar Orchestra Internship of III Amarante International Guitar Festival. Was invited to be a member of juries at national and international guitar competitions. Currently, João Tiago Correia, is a Professor at Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas - Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco. He is also a PhD student in Music - Performance branch, in Universidade de Aveiro, with the supervision of Professor Doctor Paulo Vaz de Carvalho, working under the status of portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia) Investigation Scholarship Holder.
