Rewilding: communication and marketing potential in the Côa Valley
The School of Applied Arts (ESART) of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) is promoting on Friday, 13 March 2026, at 3 p.m. in room 1.2.7 of ESART-IPCB, the session ‘Rewilding as a driver of tourism and territorial attraction – the communicative and marketing potential of the project in the Greater Côa Valley’, which will be led by Fernando Teixeira, director of corporate communications at Rewilding Portugal.
An expert in the environmental and nature conservation field, the spokesperson for the private non-profit organisation – which aims to restore ecosystems, reintroduce endangered species and functions, as well as reconnecting people with the natural world and wildlife by combining conservation with nature-based businesses – was also the production director of the documentary Côa Mais Selvagem (Wildest Côa), made in 2024 by João Cosme, which showcases the rewilding process of that wildlife corridor.
Created in 2021, Rede Côa Selvagem (Wild Côa Network), a socio-economic project by Rewilding Portugal, brings together companies with the common goal of promoting the Grande Vale do Côa (Great Côa Valley) as a nature tourism destination, in line with increasing biodiversity and the ecological restoration of these landscapes. Facilitating cooperation between different sectors, it aims to promote an economy based on nature conservation and regeneration through the development of sustainable business models.
Promoted within the scope of the Design and Innovation course, the initiative is mainly aimed at undergraduate and master’s students in the field, seeking to explore the opportunities that communication and territorial marketing can offer as tools to leverage nature conservation projects and landscape interventions.
