Lisboa hosts the documentary Amato Lusitano – Science and Humanism

On January 21, at 7:00 p.m., the Lisbon Medical Association will host a screening of the documentary “Amato Lusitano – Science and Humanism.” Admission to the screening is free.

The film, produced in 2025 as part of the activities of TECHN&ART – Center for Technology, Restoration, and Valorization of the Arts (Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco), was directed by Carlos Reis, Isabel Marcos, and Neel Naik.

The film revisits the life and legacy of the physician and humanist Amato Lusitano (1511–1568), a native of Castelo Branco, highlighting his pioneering contribution to medicine and science, his trajectory of exile and religious persecution, and the lasting impact of his ethical “Oath,” which continues to inspire generations of health professionals.

After the screening, the production team—Fátima Regina Jorge, Ana Sofia Marcelo, Carlos Reis, Isabel Marcos, and Neel Naik—will be present for a dialogue with the audience.
