FICA workshop Get Ready for the Performance: the effectiveness of instrumental practice

The School of Applied Arts (ESART) at the Castelo Branco Polytechnic (IPCB) will host, next Friday, 27 March, between 10.00 am and 4.30 pm, in room 2.2.5, the workshop “Effectiveness of Instrumental Practice – Rituals and Study Practices; Posture, Body Awareness and Expressiveness”, organised by the Orquestra Sem Fronteiras (OSF) as part of the Futuro do Interior pela Criação Artística (FICA) project.

Following an initial workshop on 13 March, on the theme “Mindfulness and Emotional Management”, which explored tools to enhance concentration and presence on stage, the second session of the FICA Preparado para a Performance! programme, led by Catarina Távora and Inês Barros, focuses on building habits that support a balanced relationship with study and performance.

Also free to attend, the third and final workshop is scheduled for 8 May and will be dedicated to producing high-quality audio content and recordings for auditions and applications to higher education, orchestras or competitions.

The FICA programme, a project that also includes artist residencies, virtual gatherings and a professional support service, is aimed at artists aged 16 to 29 who are either from or resident in the Central Region. In partnership with ESART and other schools, conservatoires and academies, the aim is to support the development of personal, artistic and professional skills, focusing on areas such as identity and emotional regulation, career guidance, first steps in a professional career, and independent production and management.
