Bruno Lucas

Born in Planes (Alicante), Bruno began his oboe studies under the guidance of Jorge Soler. He studied at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Baleares (CSMIB), the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and the Bern University of the Arts with professors Thomas Indermühle, Martin Frutiger and Jaime González. Bruno has collaborated with orchestras such as the Pablo Sarasate Symphony Orchestra of Navarre, the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, the Mannheimer Philharmoniker, the Arena di Verona Festival Orchestra, the Bern Symphony Orchestra, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano, the Murcia Symphony Orchestra, the Gran Teatre del Liceu Opera-Barcelona and the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra. Lucas has received prizes from various foundations, including the Lucerne Prize (Switzerland 2014) and the AudiMozart Oboe Competition in Rovereto (Italy 2014). He was also invited to the Sony Competition in September 2015 in Karuizawa (Japan). Since 2017, Bruno has been principal oboe teacher at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears, where he leads the AulaOboeCSMIB project. In 2023, he was appointed professor at the Sanganxa Foundation Oboe Academy. He is currently studying for a PhD in Education at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Lucas is a member of the Miramar Ensemble and the Ensemble Espai Sonor and currently participates in several high-profile freelance projects. Bruno plays a Fossati FX3 model.

Eduardo Calzada

He was born in 1978 in Caracas, Venezuela. He studied with Filiberto Nuñes and, from 1998, thanks to a DAAD scholarship, with Klaus Thunemann at the Hanns Eisler Music School in Berlin. Calzada then completed his concert exam at the Düsseldorf Academy of Music as a pupil of Gustavo Nuñez. As a fellow of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s Karajan Academy, he also received lessons from Stefan Schweigert. In 2004, he was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchester. He is a frequent guest of the Ensemble Mediterrain and the Bolívar Soloists and plays regularly with orchestras such as the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and the Berlin Philharmonic, among others. He has been a professor at the University of Music in Lübeck since 2014. He has been a member of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2004 and the SWR Symphony Orchestra since 2016.
