‘Cadeira Sénior’ Furniture Design Exhibition
On 17 March at 5 pm, in the entrance hall of the School of Education at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB), the Senior Chair furniture design exhibition will be inaugurated.
Under the guidance of lecturers Raúl Cunca and Tiago Girão, and with technical support from the ESART Project Factory team (Daniela Pedro, Estrela Nunes, José Simão, Tiago Silva, Luísa Cardoso), the exhibition consists of nine prototypes of a senior recliner and activity support chair created between 2020 and 2025 by students at the IPCB School of Applied Arts.
The projects were carried out in the ESART-IPCB studios by first-year students on the Master’s degree course in Interior and Furniture Design, as part of the Furniture Design Project II module. The challenge was to conceive and develop a piece of furniture adapted to users with limited mobility and intended for domestic spaces or care homes.
The exhibition can be visited until 17 April, forming part of the activities at the IPCB Staff House scheduled for March and April.
