“Ancient Arias”

The ‘Arias Antigas’ recital is based on volumes of arias and songs from the Baroque and Classical periods collected by composer Alessandro Parisotti. This practice of recovering works from past periods has been used by various composers. Parisotti organised the arias (or duets) for solo singer and piano accompaniment, many of them taken from operas. The arie antiche or Italian songs have become an important part of modern vocal pedagogy, but we shouldn’t underestimate their complexity, making them a challenge for young performers.
