On April 10, 2025, the School of Education will host the “Amato Lusitano Scientific and Cultural Conference – Science and Humanism”, an event dedicated to debating the life and work of João Rodrigues de Castelo Branco (Amato Lusitano), a 16th century Portuguese humanist. The day will feature the participation of renowned experts who will debate Amato Lusitano’s impact on the history of science and deepen our knowledge of his legacy. The program includes two round tables: “Amato Lusitano in the History of Science” and “Amato Lusitano: Life and Work”, where various aspects of his life and contributions will be discussed. One of the highlights of the event will be the presentation of the documentary “AMATO LUSITANO – SCIENCE AND HUMANISM”, made at the Castelo Branco branch of Techn&Art (IPTomar’s Center for Technology, Restoration and Valorization of the Arts), as part of the iDeaL research project. To round off the day, participants will have the opportunity to take a guided tour of historical sites linked to Amato Lusitano’s youth.
