On 29 September, the IPCB School of Applied Arts launched an interdisciplinary project that combines science and art, inspired by the poem ‘A Dor’ (Pain) by the Alcobaça poet António Salvado (1936–2023).
The starting point was the conference ‘A Dor: Perspetivas Médicas e Artísticas’ (Pain: Medical and Artistic Perspectives), held in Auditorium 1 of ESART and led by Dr António Lourenço Marques, a pioneer in palliative care in the region. The session set the tone for the creative work of Design and Audiovisual Communication students, who will develop artistic proposals in photography and video.
The result of this process will be presented in a public exhibition starting on 7 November at the António Salvado Municipal Library, as part of the XXXVII Jornadas de Medicina na Beira Interior – Da Pré-história ao Século XXI (37th Conference on Medicine in Beira Interior – From Prehistory to the 21st Century).
This project reflects ESART’s commitment to interdisciplinarity, promoting dialogue between scientific and artistic fields and paying tribute to one of the greatest figures in Castelo Branco’s culture.
