ESART Symphony Orchestra (with José María Moreno)

On 15 May, from 9.30 pm, the Symphony Orchestra of the Higher School of Applied Arts (ESART) at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) returns to the city’s Cine-Teatro Avenida auditorium for a concert conducted by José María Moreno.

To round off what is the third annual training session of the ESART-IPCB ensemble, works by Grieg (Peer Gynt: Suites Nos. 1 and 2), Moncayo (Huapango) and Bernstein (West Side Story: Symphonic Dances) will be performed.

Artistic director and principal conductor of the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, José María Moreno has conducted numerous Spanish and European ensembles. In Portugal, he has conducted the Portuguese Philharmonic, the Northern Philharmonic, the Heritage Philharmonic and the Opera in Heritage orchestras. A pioneer in the introduction of Hun Yuan Taichi and Chi Kung techniques applied to orchestral conducting, the Mallorcan musician is a specialist in opera and zarzuela and a distinguished symphonic and choral conductor, having worked with choirs from Spain, Latvia, Buenos Aires and Colombia.
