Pain: Images of the Word — ESART multimedia exhibition on display at the Municipal Library
Date

On November 7, the António Salvado Municipal Library was the stage for a remarkable cultural event. As part of the XXXVII Study Days from Prehistory to the 21st Century, the multimedia exhibition “PAIN: IMAGES OF THE WORD” was inaugurated, proposing an essential dialogue between Art and Science.
This exhibition is, in fact, the culmination of an interdisciplinary project coordinated by professors from the Castelo Branco School of Applied Arts — Ana Sofia Marcelo, Carlos Reis, Célia Barreto, Isabel Marcos, and Neel Naik. The project involved around 150 students from the Communication and Audiovisual Design (Bachelor’s Degree) and the Higher Professional Technical Course in Audiovisual Communication, who brought the concept of the exhibition to life.
The source of inspiration was the poem “A Dor” (Pain) by our (much-missed) illustrious poet from Castelo Branco, António Salvado (1936-2023). A beautiful tribute, without a doubt.
As with any large project of this scale, there was room for recognition. A jury composed of Maria de Lurdes Gouveia Barata, António Lourenço Marques, and Mário Raposo (RTP) was tasked with evaluating the works. After careful consideration, prizes were awarded for photography and short films, a gift from the Castelo Branco City Council, which thus recognizes emerging talent.
After careful consideration, the jury awarded prizes in the categories of Photography and Short Film. These prizes were offered by the Castelo Branco City Council, which recognizes and supports the emerging talent of our students.
