Amphibian Rebellion is inspired by frogs and toads, which serve as a metaphor for representing ‘abnormal’ people, i.e., those who are marginalised by the majority of society. These animals were chosen because they are also often seen as weird, disgusting, ugly, and scary; and are often adored by the minorities they represent (e.g., the LGBTQIA+ community, fashion subcultures, and neurodivergent people). The collection is entitled Amphibian Rebellian because it is the “exaggeration” of the frog that has already accepted who it is and is not afraid to show itself to the world, instead of hiding. The frog is someone who does not fit the norm.
