The present investigation is the result of an internship developed at Edições Valentim de Carvalho, in the area of graphic design for the music industry and music communication, having as its theme the graphic design of the covers of vinyl records, which aimed to understand the contribution of design graphic in the development of covers and promotion of the company's albums, but also in how the graphic system contributes to the transmission of concepts and connotations. For this research project, a mixed, interventionist and non-interventionist qualitative methodology was applied. For the non-interventionist methodology, methods of literature review, direct observation and document analysis were applied. The interventionist methodology was applied in the context of developing design tasks associated with the internship, through creative and technical activities. With the research carried out, it was possible to obtain results in terms of graphic design applied to the process of design and restoration of covers of musical records, either in the context of designing covers and their promotion, or through the restoration of covers of old vinyl records and even the analysis of the graphic system of the album covers. The Internship allowed understanding processes, methods and tasks associated with the design, production and restoration of album covers, analyzing album covers in certain contexts and with multiple graphic expressions, as well as contributing to the integration of design in the recording industry.
