Sexology for everyone

Sexual Education and other teachings related to this topic, considered essential for the healthy sexual development of young people, continues to generate constraints by being addressed as a taboo subject, placing Portugal in a more conservative level of development compared to other countries in Europe.

In view of the Law number 60/2009 of August 6, which establishes the regime of application of Sex Education in the school environment, it appears that at a national level, it continues to occur negligence in the implementation of a well-designed curriculum plan that includes diverse and relevant themes for students.
During the analysis carried out to the modes of dispersion of information related to the theme, it is observed that there is an incompatibility between the existing media and the public to which it is destined. The production of graphic objects with a reduced and unappealing aesthetic treatment does not incite interest among teenagers, the target audience for which this type of information is mostly intended.

In the scope of solving the problem found, a project with themes based on sexual education was carried out, which included all citizens, through the creation of four informative graphic elements. The elements in question are composed of a book for distribution in educational establishments and online viewing, four triptychs for distribution in educational and health establishments, four posters for public display and a page on the social network Instagram that contributes to the continued dissemination of the content created, also serving as a vehicle for viewing the e-book version of the book.
Incorporating an aesthetic language, influenced by the 80’s/90’s trend and the vaporwave trend, the recipients are presented with a collection of captivating and dynamic elements conceived, partially, through a vibrant and contrasting color palette, elaborated from the imperfect construction in illustration of black outlined shapes with their respective colored shades.
