Three students from the ESART/IPCB violin class have qualified for the final of the European Union Youth Orchestra: Mariana Costa, who is studying for her degree, Angélica Fonseca and Sara Castro, who is studying for her Master’s in Music Teaching.
The European Union Youth Orchestra is one of the most respected orchestras in the world. Founded in the United Kingdom in 1976, it brings together the most talented young instrumentalists from each of the European Union’s member states, making it a European project of excellence. In addition to a diverse and innovative training programme with internationally renowned teachers, conductors and soloists, the orchestra offers its young musicians the opportunity to perform in the world’s most emblematic concert halls.
These three students, as well as violinist Filipe Correia, who is also studying for a Master’s degree in Music Teaching, are scholarship holders of the Portuguese Philharmonic Academic Orchestra, having been awarded an annual scholarship of €6,000 through a competition, a project that supports the training of students in the field of music. The Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra is supported by the Directorate-General for the Arts and leads the international ‘Sounds of Change’ project, with support from Creative Europe.
Congratulations to everyone on an excellent performance!
